The Audi R8 Spider will get two vented roadster style bumps behind the seats that help draw air to cool the rear-mounted motor. Instead of the large side blade, we’ll see a small blade insert on the doors, so there are some significant visual differences between the Coupe and Spider Audi models. Car managed to get their hands on some early sketches of the Spider from Audi’s official design team. Audi plans to begin sales of the Audi R8 Spider in 2009 with the same 4.2L V8 churning out 420HP as the Audi RS4 and Audi R8 Coupe. Down the track we can expect a 500 horsepower V10 model using an engine derived from the Lamborghini Gallardo and perhaps even a TDI to promote their involvement with the Audi R10 racecar.
